Back when I was single and living and working in Dallas I was a “yogi.” Several times a week I’d drive to my favorite spot (a wonderful, intimate space housed upstairs from above a delicious smelling vegetarian Indian restaurant). It helped my mind find peace and my body find purpose.
When my husband and I made the move to our rural homestead a few year ago – I wondered if I had absorbed enough yoga over the last several years to be able to practice on my own. I tried, but I soon found that leading my own practice made it hard for me to quiet my mind. And I was always worried that I was doing poses incorrectly or in harmful orders. And our area is so rural it would require me driving at least an hour (each way!) to find even the most basic yoga class.
I became resigned to yoga being a thing of my past, especially since I rarely had time to myself with a little one running around. Then I discovered the best thing EVER on the internet. There are online classes – you can do anytime you want – led by fabulous and knowledgable instructors, for FREE.
The site that I use all the time now is doyogawithme.com. Seriously, I would hug these people if I could. They have made it possible for this stay-at-home-mom to do yoga again. And it’s been the most beautiful thing. It recharges my heart and mind. Plus, most of the classes are short enough to fit in during B’s afternoon nap. And if he wakes up early – it’s okay. I can pause it and come back to it later. I find time about once or twice a week and that’s great.
Did I mention that the classes are FREE?! No, I’m not a paid sponsor. I swear! I just think it’s great that they offer such a beautiful thing that fits into our single-income family budget.
Yoga for everyone!
